Stratigraphic succession of Pleistocene deposits on the site of S-34
Pucangan fm

1: clay, yellowish grey, contains abundant reworked planktonic foraminifera & frequent limestone nodules. The thick ness is more than 5.5m
2: clay, bluish grey, 2.4m thick

Kabuh fm
3: granule gravel & pebble conglomerate, 2.1m thick (Grenzbank). Locally it contains fossil mammalian bones. Rock fragments are rounded, mostly composed of limestone. Reworked planktonic foraminifera are common, characteristically w/ abraded surfaces. This layer is widely distributed in the Sangiran area
4: sandy silt, brownish yellow, contains abundant reworked planktonic foraminifera. The thickness is about 2.5m
5: sand, medium to coarse grained w/ pebble & tuff intercalations. Cross-bedding common. The total thickness of this layer is 4.5m. In the lower part, two pebble layers, 15cm & 40cm thick & a tuff lense are recognized. The 40-cm pebble layer locally contains fossil mammalian bones. In the upper part, a 35-cm light yellow tuff layer & a 50-cm pebble layer are observed
6: tuffaceous silt, yellowish grey, thickness 1.6m
7: sand w/ pebble intercalations, dark grey, cross-bedded. Concentrations of magnetite grain emphasize [mempertegas] the cross bedding. Upper most part of this unit, 20cm in thickness, is medium to coarse-grained sand without cross-bedding. The total thickness of this layer is 1.4m
8: pebble gravel, brownish, well rounded, pebble size most commonly 0.5-1cm. Pebbles are andesitic. Rounded particles of pumice w/ maximum diameter of 2cm also occur. The thickness is about 0.8m

8: light to dark brown unbedded tuffaceous sandstone w/ boulders of andesite of up to about 10cm in diameter. Thickness unknown
UNCONFORMITY
7: cross-bedded yellowish sandstone containing black minerals & intercalations of tuff layers of 1 to 2cm thick. Thickness 3m
6: cross-grained unbedded tuffaceous sandstone of light brown colour containing black minerals & rounded fragments of andesite of up to 1cm in diameter. Thickness 2.7m
5: dark brown unbedded tuffaceous sandstone w/ rounded fragments of andesite of up to 1cm in diameter. Thickness 4.5m
4: cross bedded, fine grained & yellowish to brownish sandstone w/ black minerals. This bed contains the S-12 (PVII) & the upper molar of an Elephas sp. Thickness 3m
3: cross bedded whitish to light grey sandstone containing black minerals. Thickness 3.8m
2: fine grained tuff of white colour Average thickness 1.0m. Thickness 1.6m
1: black claystone (forming the bottom of the rivulet/anak sungai). Thickness is unknown

11: conglomerates w/ andesitic components ranging in diameter between 0.5cm & 20cm. This bed contains also intercalations of unbedded tuffaceous sandstones of light to dark brown colour. Thickeness about 3.0m
10: unbedded fine-grained tuff of brownish yellow colour. Average thickness 0.5m
9: cross-laminated sandstone of yellowish to light grey colour, containing quartz & magnetic. Average thickness 1.0m
8: cross-laminated sandstone similar to layer no.9 containing lenses & thin seams of gravel w/ components of andesitic rocks & pumice averaging about 1cm in diameter. Average thickness 1.5m
7: tuffaceous sandstone of white, yellow to grey colour, containing parallel black seams of magnetic crystals. Average thickness 5.75m
6: tuffaceosu sandstone similar to layer no.7, containing lenses of white fine-grained tuff. Average thickness 1.0m
5: tuffaceosu sandstone of yellowish to light grey colour containing quartz & magnetite. Average thickness 1.0m
4: tuffaceous sandstone similar to layer no.5, w/ thin corrugated [wrinkled, berkerut] black seams of magnetite crystals. Average thickness 1.5m
3: tuffaceous cross-laminated sandstone similar to layer no.5. Average thickness 1.5m
2: tuffaceous sandstone w/ lenses of andesitic gravel ranging in diameter between 0.5-1.0cm. Average thickness 1.0m
1: bedded sandstone w/ parallel black seams consisting of magnetite crystals. Thickness is unknown. This sandstone forms the base of the blind [sukar terlihat] valley & contains the skull
